Lahore, (PR) : These views were expressed by the Central President of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association, Kashif Adib Jawdani, North Punjab President Abrar Ahmed Khan, and North Punjab Vice President Col. (R) Fawad Hanif in a joint statement. They stated that, for the first time in the country’s history, private educational institutions in Punjab are being barred from holding Independence Day celebrations. Raids are reportedly being conducted on schools that open for this purpose. The school owners are allegedly being threatened with heavy fines, cancellation of registration, and even beheading, through the issuance of show-cause notices.
Abrar Ahmed Khan demanded that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif take immediate notice of the Punjab government’s actions, especially as this year’s Independence Day holds exceptional significance. He said that this is the first time the nation has the opportunity to celebrate what is being seen as a symbolic victory over its long-standing adversary, India, and that such an occasion should be marked with great pride and national unity. However, the actions and policies of the Punjab government. He said, are difficult to comprehend. The association leaders further noted that, following the summer vacation, both private and public schools have reopened across all provinces except Punjab, where schools are being forcibly kept closed despite preparations for Independence Day celebrations. They emphasized that this discriminatory approach is unjust and counterproductive to national spirit.
