MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times): Unveiling saliant features of the enthusiastic celebrations of the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan besides the victory of ‘Maarka e Haq ‘ (Battle for Righteousness) across this lake-side district of Mirpur AJK, Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz has said that the day will be marked with various events in the district to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan in a dignified manner on August 14 to highlight the importance of the historic day of exceptional significance and ‘Battle for truth’ among the masses.
He was chairing police-cum- magistrate meetings besides heads of various nation-building departments here on Tuesday. SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal and other police officers from across the district and magistrates attended the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner continued LEDs have been installed at various places in the city to show documentaries about the historic day and post 47 era of proress and prosperity of the country besides the Independence Day and the battle for truth, depicting bold the courageous role of the leaders and activists of the Pakistan Movement, Kasjmir freedom struggle and the brave armed forces of Pakistan.
“An Independence Day rally will be taken out from Quaid-e-Azam Stadium at 7.30 pm on August 13, in which motorcycles, jeeps, government and private vehicles and a large number of people will participate, and a cultural night and fireworks will be held at the same night.
The national flags of Pakistan and Azad be Kashmir will be hoisted and all government and semi-government, commercial, public, private, business buildings, banks and other houses will illuminated at night across the district.
The much-awaited Independence Day of Pakistan will commense in the morning of August 14 with a special prayers in mosques.
Rhe main flag hoisting ceremony will be held at the district headquarters’ lawn of the Municipal Corporation. Sirens will be sounded at 08:59 minutes and one minute of silence will be observed during which all types of traffic will be stopped . On this occasion, the national flags of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir will be hoisted amidst play of national anthems of Pakistan and AJK.
A well-uniformed police force contingent will present a salute to be followed by a march.
At the end of the ceremony, prayers will be offered for the progress and security of Pakistan, the glory of the armed forces of Pakistan, the success of the Kashmir freedom movement, the success of the movement of the completion of Pakistan and the success of the Muslim Ummah.
The DC further said that Independence Day of Pakistan will also be celebrated in all major towns and and villages with great enthusiasm and devotion.
An Independence Day boat rally will be held at Mangla Dam near Asifa Bhutto Park on August 14 at 11:30 am. Flag hoisting and speech competitions will be held in all government and private educational institutions across the district on the occasion of Independence Day.
National flags of Pakistan and AJK will also be hoisted at the main entry points of Mirpur district on the occasion of Independence Day. While the Mangla entry and exit point will be illuminated with multi colour lights on the occasion of Independence Day.
The day will also be marked with various sports competitions including table tennis, boxing, cricket matches, marathon races and volleyball competitions are also being organized under the auspices of the Sports Department. Banners bearing the slogans and significance the day will be displayed on the main roads and squares of Mirpur city on the occasion of Independence Day and the Battle for Righteousness.
Meanwhile a great enthusiasm is being witnessed among the jubilant people to participate in the Independence Day celebrations with full zeal, and fervor across the district. Children, the elderly men, women, and students are engaged in buying national natiomal flags and other items from stalls to celebrate the day
