Bagh, (Parliament Times) : A Pakistan Television (PTV) employee posted at the Bagh booster station in Azad Kashmir, Muhammad Shahid, faces serious allegations of corruption, illegal activities, misuse of authority, possession of illegal weapons, and involvement in deforestation. Local residents and sources have called on Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar and PTV Managing Director to take immediate and strict action.

According to sources, Muhammad Shahid was initially hired as a technical helper on a third-division matriculation certificate and was later made permanent—allegedly illegally—on the post of TCJA. Not only does he fail to meet the required educational and professional standards, but he is also accused of abusing his position and engaging in unauthorized activities. Sources claim he enjoys the backing of his supervisor, Zubair Abbasi, the Engineering In-Charge of RBS Bagh, under whose alleged protection he has been involved in corruption, absenteeism, and interference in political schemes.

It has also been reported that Shahid is frequently absent from duty for weeks but manipulates attendance records to show presence. Using his PTV identification card, he reportedly poses as a media person to intimidate ordinary citizens. Local residents further claim that he possesses illegal weapons, which he uses to threaten people and fire shots in the area, spreading fear and insecurity.

Shahid is also allegedly involved in private electrical wiring work and operates tree-cutting machinery. Reports indicate his involvement in illegal logging activities in the region—actions that violate environmental regulations and endanger the local ecosystem. He is also accused of manipulating various public and private schemes through political agents to obtain funds, and of blackmailing citizens using court stay orders.

Residents have demanded a transparent investigation against Muhammad Shahid and his supervisor Zubair Abbasi, calling for their immediate suspension and legal accountability. They stress that such actions are essential not only to protect the credibility of a national institution like PTV but also to uphold the rule of law and ensure peace in the region.
