Kashmir Global Council announces historic conference in Washington D.C. on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day

Washington D.C, (PR) : In a significant diplomatic development, the Kashmir Global Council (KGC) has announced an important international conference to be held in Washington D.C. to commemorate Kashmir Martyrs’ Day on July 13. The conference will take place at the U.S. Capitol Hill, the center of American political power.

The event, scheduled for July 14, will feature addresses from prominent members of the U.S. Republican Party, including peace and development advocates Bob Cooke and Shahab Qarni, as well as bankers, human rights activists, and policy experts based in Washington D.C.

The primary objective of the conference is to reinvigorate international attention on the Kashmir issue and to present the authentic voices of the Kashmiri people to the global community. According to KGC, the conference will bring together Kashmiri leaders, international human rights defenders, legal scholars, and policymakers from around the world for an in-depth dialogue on the legal, historical, and political dimensions of the Kashmir conflict.

KGC emphasizes that the Kashmir dispute is not merely a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan, but a global human rights and political concern. The people of Kashmir, who are the principal stakeholders, have been neglected and marginalized for decades.

One of the most notable announcements expected during the event is the launch of a “Kashmir Senate”, a representative body that will include voices from all regions of Jammu & Kashmir and the global Kashmiri diaspora. This Senate aims to act as a unified political platform to express the collective aspirations of Kashmiris, particularly their right to self-determination.

The Kashmir Global Council highlighted the historical significance of July 13, 1931, when 22 unarmed Kashmiris were martyred in Srinagar while resisting colonial oppression. “Their sacrifice is not just a chapter in history—it is a milestone in the ongoing struggle for freedom and dignity,” the Council stated.

KGC called on the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and global governments to demonstrate genuine solidarity with the Kashmiri people and to recognize their inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with international law and democratic principles.

The final program details and guest list will be released shortly. The Council expressed confidence that this conference will serve as a significant diplomatic step toward a just, peaceful, and lasting resolution to the Kashmir conflict.
