Political parties play a fundamental role in making or breaking a country: Raja Farooq Haider Khan
Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times): Former prime minister of Azad Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, stated that there is a dire need for a new strategy to advance the Kashmir freedom movement. He emphasized the importance of political parties playing a role in introducing the new generation to the value of freedom, the hardships of slavery, and the sacrifices of their ancestors. On July 13, 1931, 22 martyrs sacrificed their lives for the completion of the Azaan, all of whom were shot in the chest. This region of Azad Kashmir and its system are the result of these sacrifices, leaving no room for ideological weakness.
Raja Farooq Haider expressed pride in the relationship with Pakistan and highlighted that during his tenure, he made the state resourceful through the 13th amendment, initiating a path of development and prosperity in Azad Kashmir by eliminating the role of the Kashmir Council. He emphasized that the defense of Pakistan is invincible with the presence of the Pakistan Armed Forces, and he takes pride in their sacrifices.
He stressed that those governing Azad Kashmir must play their part in ending ideological and intellectual discord in the region. He questioned why established political leadership and parties are being sidelined and what negotiations are being conducted with civil society without their involvement.
Raja Farooq Haider mentioned that political parties play a fundamental role in making or breaking a country. He recalled stating he would be the last Prime Minister of the state, and through the 13th amendment, he acquired resources, created a new constitution, and eliminated the administrative role of the Kashmir Council. He believes the income of the state today is due to those efforts.
He criticized attempts to erase ideologies from the minds of the new generation and the creation of a new ideology in Azad Kashmir. He warned that before a referendum, any talk leads to paving the way for the division of Kashmir.
Raja Farooq Haider emphasized that the Pakistan Army is ours, and those running the system now must consult with Azad Kashmir’s political leadership. He warned that the current situation is dangerous and harmful to national interests. He hoped the new leadership of the Pakistan Army will change old policies, as the Kashmir issue is a matter of national security and survival
