Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : A high-profile dinner was held in Islamabad to welcome former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, and other prominent political leaders to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The event was co-hosted by Chaudhry Parvez Ashraf, former caretaker Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and a senior leader of the PPP, and Sardar Amjad Yousaf, former advisor to the government.

A high-profile dinner was held in Islamabad to welcome former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, and other prominent political leaders to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The event was co-hosted by Chaudhry Parvez Ashraf, former caretaker Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and a senior leader of the PPP, and Sardar Amjad Yousaf, former advisor to the government.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, in his address, stated that his joining the PPP was not driven by temporary interests but rather by ideological alignment and a commitment to public service. He expressed admiration for President Asif Ali Zardari’s political acumen and strategic approach.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi praised Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan’s decision to join the PPP, calling it a historic turning point and a strong step for the party’s future. He emphasized the PPP’s role in guiding the country through crises and credited President Zardari’s conciliatory politics with ending the country’s diplomatic and economic isolation.

Chaudhry Parvez Ashraf, in his address, welcomed the new members and highlighted the significance of the gathering as a testament to the PPP’s resurgence as a central political force in Azad Kashmir. He praised Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan for joining the PPP, saying it was a victory for Bhutto’s ideology and public support.

Sardar Amjad Yousaf, former advisor to the government and co-host of the event, criticized the Muslim League (N), stating that its leaders should acknowledge the PPP’s political sacrifices before engaging in political rhetoric. He emphasized that the current federal government owes its existence to the PPP’s political strategy and sacrifices, not the Muslim League (N). He urged the Muslim League (N) leaders to learn political awareness and tolerance from President Asif Ali Zardari. Sardar Amjad Yousaf further asserted that today marks the beginning of a new political alignment in Azad Kashmir, with the future belonging to the PPP.

The high-profile event was attended by numerous prominent leaders, including Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, former President and Prime Minister Sardar Yakub Ahmed Khan, Speaker of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, ministers, members of the assembly, advisors, former advisors, candidates for assembly, district councilors, and other key political and social figures from Azad Kashmir and across Pakistan.

The ceremony not only marked a significant step in the PPP’s reorganization but also sent a strong message that the inclusion of active leaders like Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan would further strengthen the party’s political power. His joining the PPP is expected to reshape the political landscape in Azad Kashmir and lay the foundation for a decisive victory for the party in the upcoming elections.

The event was attended by numerous prominent political and social leaders from Azad Kashmir and across Pakistan, signaling a significant shift in the region’s political landscape and a boost to the PPP’s strength ahead of the 2026 elections.
