Lahore, (PR) : Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s mission to provide clean drinking water across the province continues. Preparations are underway for the first phase of installing 944 new filtration plants in 15 districts of Punjab. A key meeting was held at the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority headquarters under the chairmanship of Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin.CEO of the Saaf Pani Authority Zahid Aziz and DG O&M Zohaib Butt gave a detailed briefing on the progress of targets. In line with the Chief Minister’s directives, proposals for new projects to ensure clean water supply were presented. A decision was made to set up plants to supply bottled clean water in four cities of South Punjab and the Pothohar region. Installation of two small-scale and one large-scale surface water treatment plant has also been included in the PC-1.The meeting also conducted a detailed review of the provision of clean water in the Pothohar region through the treatment of dam water. On the occasion, Minister Bilal Yasin stated that historic projects are being planned to provide clean water to the people of Punjab. He issued instructions for the speedy completion of PC-1 to address problems that have persisted for decades. He further emphasized that the Chief Minister is committed to sustainable planning for clean water provision across the province. New water supply projects will be initiated annually.Parliamentary Secretary Barrister Sultan Bajwa and Chairman of the Saaf Pani Authority Chaudhry Zahid Akram were also present at the meeting.
