    WAFAQI MOHTASIB’S INSPECTION TEAM ADVISES EOBI TO ENSURE PROTECTION OF RIGHTS OF EOBI PENSIONERS, EMPLOYEES

    MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : Responding to a large number of complaints against the Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution (EOBI), a Wafaqi Mohtasib Inspection Team headed by Senior Advisor, Mr. Ahmad Farooq, which visited the EOBI Regional Office in the federal metropolis directing the organization to ensure safeguarding the rights and interests of the EOBI pensioners and registered employees, it was officially said.

    “The Inspection team also instructed to provide details regarding the unregistered companies in the country within one week”, media wing of the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat told our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao on Thursday.

    The Team included the Wafaqi Mohtasib Office’s Registrar Mr. Muhammad Saqib Khan, Consultant Khalid Sial, Investigation Officer Jamil Ahmad and Assistant Liaison Officer Ijaz Hussain.


    The Inspection Team instructed the EOBI administration to conduct a countrywide survey for ascertaining how many companies are still unregistered, which should have been registered with the EOBI, and what action has been initiated against the companies evading registration as per legal requirement.


    The Senior Advisor on the occasion observed that EOBI is meant for the protection of the rights of the pensioners and registered employees, which it must fulfil as its fundamental responsibility.
    The Inspection Team also handed over a questionnaire with the instruction to furnish detailed reply within one week. It also reviewed the progress on implementation of recommendations made to the organization during the course of previous visits.

    Earlier, during a briefing, the Inspection Team was informed that any company or business concern having ten or more than ten employees, must get itself registered with the EOBI and the total number of such organizations presently stood at 155,888, whereas the employees registered with them numbered at 11,555,309. It was further informed that as of today, the EOBI pensioners stood at nearly 802,000, who are getting pension ranging from Rs.10,000/- to Rs.34,000/- per month.
