KOTLII. (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Mirpur Division, Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to solving the problems of the citizens of Kotli. He emphasized that concrete and long-term steps are being taken to address water shortage, ensure uninterrupted power supply, and improve the sewage system.
In a review meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Commissioner Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain directed the concerned departments to initiate a grand operation to recover electricity transformers lying in homes or different places and to stop electricity and water theft. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including DIG Dr. Liaquat Ali, Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Nasir Rafique, and SSP Adeel Ahmed Langrrial.
Addressing Water Scarcity,
The meeting discussed short and long-term plans to address the water scarcity issue in Kotli city. Axion Public Health Rizwan Shabbir Jaral informed the Commissioner that work is underway on these plans, which include addressing the decrease in groundwater level, electricity load shedding, and lack of water storage facilities.
On Electricity and Power Supply
SE Electricity Omar Hayat briefed the meeting on efforts to address low voltage issues in certain areas and action against electricity thieves. The Commissioner directed the department to take strict action against electricity thieves and recover transformers hidden in houses.
On Public Awareness and Emergency Preparedness
The Commissioner emphasized the need for a public awareness scheme to encourage water conservation and directed the departments to be prepared for any emergency during the monsoon season. Ishtiaq Mughal, Highways Inspector, highlighted the department’s readiness to deal with emergencies, while DHO Shafqat Shah reported on preparations for dealing with possible emergencies during Muharram-ul-Haram and monsoon.
The meeting reviewed the arrangements made to maintain law and order and communal harmony in the deprived areas and expressed satisfaction over them. DFC Munawar Ahmed Chohan reported on the flour supply situation, highlighting the need for increased allocation.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to address the public issues and improve the overall situation in Kotli.
