MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : Under the spirit to discourage the loss of men and material, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Generall Raja Umar Tariq Khan on Sunday imposed an immediate ban on the operation of passenger boats in Mangla Dam under Section 144 Cr. PC due to the forecast of heavy monsoon rains and flooding of rivers and streams by the Meteorological Department, it was officially said.
“The ban on Boating has been imposed most particularly due to the lack of safety SOPs and facilities in passenger boats, as the safety of precious lives was not taken care in passenger boats and sometimes complaints of reported over loading aboard the boats”, the ADC (G) told our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Raohere on Sunday while unveiling the precautionary measures to avert threats of impending devastating monsoon rains and floods in this district.
Omer Tariq Raja continued that the lack of due safety measures by the owners of the boats might cause any mishap during boating any time resulting in loss of precious human lives.
The ADC ( General) revealed that a committee has immediately been formed to implement SOPS to ensure safe travelling through passenger boats with due recommendations to ensure safe Boating and travelling.
” Until then, to avoid any accident, a ban has immediately been imposed on the use of all types of passenger boats in Mangla Lake under Section 144 CrPC, he said adding under the prohibitory measures no person / persons will use / travel in passenger boats in Mangla Lake, he declared..
“Stringent action will be n itiated against the violators under section 188 Cr. PC ifIf any youth/person/persons are found violating this prohibitory orders”, the ADC (G) warned.
