Paris, (PR) : Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Forum France, Chaudhry Naeem Akhtar, stated that thousands of Kashmiri women have been widowed under Indian occupation in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmiri women are suffering under Indian oppression, and international organizations must step in to ensure their protection. He expressed these views while speaking to the media yesterday.
He said that more than 23,000 civilians have been martyred in the terrorist operations of Indian forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leaving their widows to live lives of helplessness and misery. According to him, Indian occupying forces have always used violence, oppression, and exploitation of Kashmiri women as a weapon of war.
He further stated that 2,700 Kashmiri women are currently living the life of “half-widows,” whose husbands were abducted by Indian forces many years ago and remain missing to this day. These half-widows still do not know whether their husbands are alive or martyred, forcing them to live lives full of pain and uncertainty.
He emphasized that international human rights organizations, especially those working for women’s rights, must take notice of the plight of Kashmiri women and the atrocities committed by Indian forces and the Modi regime.
He added that in the last 36 years, over 1,200 Kashmiri women have been martyred in attacks by Indian forces. He also said that many women, including Syeda Asiya Andrabi, Fahmida Sufi, and Naheeda Nasreen, who have been part of the collective struggle for freedom, justice, and peace , are still suffering under Indian oppression and remain imprisoned.
He concluded by stating that India can never crush the Kashmir freedom movement through state-sponsored oppression and the use of violence against women. He affirmed that the Kashmiri resistance against India will continue until complete freedom is achieved.
