Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri, in her special message on the occasion of the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, stated that the inclusion and leadership of women in the global diplomatic arena is a significant milestone that plays a vital role in shaping peaceful, balanced, and inclusive global policies. She said this day serves as an opportunity to pay tribute to those women around the world who are proving their capabilities in the field of diplomacy. “Pakistani women ambassadors, consuls general, and all those playing prominent roles on global forums are a source of immense pride for us,” she added.

Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri emphasized that women’s participation is not only crucial on the diplomatic front but is also fundamental to achieving global peace, resolving conflicts, promoting human rights, and attaining developmental goals. She expressed her satisfaction over the growing opportunities being provided to women in Pakistan across all sectors, including diplomacy. She highlighted that women in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, are educated, courageous, and conscious of their roles, actively contributing to politics and all segments of society. She further stated, “Women are a vital pillar of any society and cannot be ignored under any circumstances. Their contribution is essential to societal progress, and no society can be truly complete without the active participation of women.”

On this occasion, Senator Zehri urged the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all relevant institutions to ensure that women are given more opportunities in top diplomatic positions and that their consultation in policymaking is guaranteed. Addressing young women, she encouraged them “to move forward with confidence and determination, as their voices and participation can help build a better and more just world.”
