Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak, while presiding over a review meeting regarding the arrangements for Muharram along with RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa, stated that the purpose of holding regular meetings with all stakeholders is to acknowledge their vital role in maintaining law and order. He instructed the administrative officers to incorporate their suggestions regarding Majalis and processions. Engineer Aamir Khattak said that the security and other arrangements should be completed by taking the organizers of the Majalis and processions on board. All Deputy Commissioners should personally supervise the arrangements, and keeping in view the experience of the previous year, any shortcomings should be addressed immediately. He further directed that control rooms be established and activated in all districts. The responsibility for ensuring the presence of the designated focal persons from each department in the control rooms lies with the head of the respective department. He also instructed that, in addition to government hospitals, private hospitals should be alerted and private ambulances should be kept on standby. Apart from the organizers of the Majalis and processions, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani, Additional Commissioner Coordination Syed Nazarat Ali, Director General PHA, and other heads of relevant departments attended the meeting this meeting held at Commissioner office Rawalpindi. Moreover, Deputy Commissioners of Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, and Murree participated via video link.
Commissioner further stated that, on the special instructions of the Chief Minister, stalls of sabeel (free drinking stations) would also be set up on the procession routes, which would be very beneficial in this harsh weather. He directed that any electric or other wiring along the procession routes should be fixed immediately and that patchwork to be completed as soon as possible.Dengue spray should be done on procession routes. Furthermore, the Solid Waste Management has already been activated for route cleanliness. Commissioner instructed that civil defense, municipal corporations, WAPDA, Rescue 1122, and other concerned staff should accompany every procession. Shia scholars appreciated the efforts of district administration regarding security and other arrangements of the processions and Majalis. They stated that this time, all arrangements are being made in advance so that if any gap found can be filled in time.
