MIRPUR (AJK),  (Parliament Times) :  Azad Jammu Kashmir President Azad Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that the overseas Kashmiris settled in United Kingdom had always played an effective role in highlighting the Kashmir issue at the global level, which, he termed, as highly commendable.

The President expressed these views while talking to Honorary Presidential Advisor for Midland Chaudhry Khadim Hussain who called on him at the Jammu Kashmir House in the federal metropolis on Saturday.

The President emphasized that the Overseas Kashmiris should raise their voice in support of Kashmiris’ right to self determination and join their forces to awaken the world conscience, raising awareness about an early and amicable settlement of the longstanding Kashmir issue.

The president said that there was a dire need to expose India’s relentless repression of political and human rights in occupied Kashmir.Referring to serious human rights violations taking place in the region, the president said, “India has crossed all limits of savagery there by killing innocent civilians”.

The president called upon the international community to take effective notice of the ongoing Indian brutality in occupied Kashmir and play its much needed role to stop bloodshed and violence in the region.Commenting on the US President Donald trump’s mediation offer, he said, ” We should take full advantage of the offer of mediation on the Kashmir issue made by the President Trump”.

The president Trump’s mediation offer, he said, had not only internationlise the Kashmir issue but also projected it as a highly sensitive issue to be addressed at the earliest. The president said that it was high time to intensify efforts on the diplomatic front, mobilize overseas Kashmiris and raise our voice at every forum to tell the world that Kashmir is not a border dispute but a humanitarian issue that needs to be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Terming Kashmiris as the fundamental party to the dispute, the president stressed the need for associating Kashmiri leadership in the talks process to bring about a lasting solution to the Kashmir problem.E
