It is a true story of the indifference the people display towards the voiceless living creatures, the animals who cannot express like humans and thus become the target of undue victimization by them. An acquaintance narrated this to me and I am reproducing it verbatim: “I had a lovely golden retriever named Leny and the whole family was quite attached to it. Once I had to go to trip with the family for a few days. I instructed the servant to take good care of it, and regularly take it out for walk. While we were away, he showed extreme indifference, apathy and listlessness and one day let Leny go out on his own. The dog went out and was encircled by a pack of violent stray dogs who attacked him and as a result he sustained severe injuries. When I came out and di not find him around. On inquiring the servant he narrated the whole incidence and confessed that he had let the dog go on his own and after that it did not come back. The kids in the home were very fond of him and started asking for it repeatedly. I tried to find him but had no clue. After three or four days my friend revealed to me he had spotted Leny tied inside the lawn of a home three lanes away. I went instantly and saw him in a wretched condition. He was heavily wounded and hungry. The people who took him did not care to take him to a vet. When I asked them they said we tried to give him food but it di not eat. I took Leny and brought him back home. All the family members were happy and sad at the same time to see him. Happy to find him and sad to see his plight. Leny was excited too, he took the round of whole home, though with an evident effort, and when my daughter came with whom he was attached the most, he moved in a circle and then lay in her feet and then died on the spot . It seemed as if he was just waiting for his home to embrace death peacefully. The kids cried and I also shed silent tears in my heart over the heartlessness of those people who found him and did not bother to get checked. Leny had the collar which depicted the details about address of the owner but nobody cared. I wonder whether most of the human beings today have fallen below the level of these animals who prove far more loyal than many of them.
