Vienna Austria, (PR) : The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna hosted a reception to commemorate the National Day of Pakistan. The event brought together high-ranking officials from the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna, members of the diplomatic corps, and the Pakistani community in Austria.

His Excellency Maximilian Hennig, Chief of Protocol of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

In his address, Mr. Mohammad Kamran Akhtar, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Pakistan, welcomed the distinguished guests and reflected on the significance of Pakistan Day. The Ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s immense investment potential and its role as a connectivity hub between Asia and Europe. He further noted the robust and multifaceted bilateral relations that Pakistan enjoys with Austria and Slovakia, spanning a wide range of fields including trade, investment, education, energy, culture, and science. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening these ties and to exploring new avenues for collaboration in areas such as science and technology, tourism, and energy.

While underscoring the imperative for the early and peaceful resolution of long standing disputes-including the situation arising from the illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir by India, the Ambassador further emphasized Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to multilateralism and its active engagement with the United Nations and international organizations based in Vienna.

With a focus on socio-economic development and the well-being of its people, Pakistan seeks friendly relations with all its neighbours and aspires to a stable, inclusive, and just global order. Pakistan remains committed to working with all members of the international community to achieve these objectives, firmly believing that there should be no place for hegemonic ambitions or the pursuit of domestic political interests at the expense of inter-state relations.

In his remarks, Chief of Protocol His Excellency Maximilian Hennig congratulated the people of Pakistan and lauded the friendly and constructive relations between Austria and Pakistan and reiterated commitment to further solidify bilateral relationship between both countries.

At the end of the ceremony, a cake was cut to celebrate Pakistan’s National Day and guests were treated to Pakistani and Austrian cuisine.
