Mirpur, (AJK), (Parliament Times) : Sardar Rizwan Hanif, a central leader of the Jammu Kashmir United Movement, in a strong statement, said that if India thinks it can give permanent legitimacy to its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir through military aggression, it is gravely mistaken. The people of Kashmir stood against Indian occupation yesterday, they stand firm today, and they will not rest until the occupation is brought to an end. He further stated that if India tries to use incidents like the one in Pahalgam as a pretext to justify its atrocities in front of the world, this strategy will no longer work. The United Nations resolutions and the international community are witnesses to the fact that Kashmir is a disputed territory and that India’s occupation is illegal and oppressive. Sooner or later, India will have to relinquish its hold over Kashmir. Sardar Rizwan Hanif warned that if India does not halt its aggressive policies and continues to violate the fundamental human and political rights of the Kashmiri people, the region could spiral into a devastating conflict — one that would endanger not only South Asia but global peace as well. He urged the international community to take immediate notice of India’s brutalities and take concrete steps to ensure the Kashmiri people are granted their right to self-determination.
