Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) :The travel and tourism industry not only plays an important role in the country’s economic development but also plays a crucial role in introducing Pakistan’s bright face to tourists around the world. The current situation is worrisome for the industry, The Prime Minister and the Minister of Religious Affairs should play their role in resolving it. This was stated by Qazi Khurram Shiraz, Organizer of the Travel Association Rawalpindi Division, and Muhammad Ali, CEO of Al-Aziz Group, in a joint statement
The Association leaders stated that the limited issuance of Umrah visas has caused severe difficulties for Pakistani pilgrims and travel agents. Agents’ purchased airline tickets are going to waste, while millions of Riyals paid in advance for hotel bookings in Makkah and Madinah are also at risk. Unfortunately, airlines are now imposing heavy fines for cancellations, and some bookings are non-refundable. Muhammad Ali, leader of the Travel Agents Association, appealed to the Prime Minister and Minister of Religious Affairs to intervene and rescue the industry from crisis. He urged them to raise this critical issue with Saudi authorities immediately, ensuring the travel industry and pilgrims avoid significant losses and Umrah deprivation.
