Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Timesz) : During the holy month of Ramadan, the obscene fashion show held in Gulmarg has been condemned by the Kashmiri people, who consider it a reprehensible act. Chairperson of the Kashmir Women Alert Forum (KWAF) and prominent Kashmiri leader, Samia Sajid, stated that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim-majority region where citizens deeply respect Islamic values and the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan, focusing entirely on religious worship during this time.
She said that holding an obscene fashion show at the tourist site of Gulmarg during this sacred month is a grave violation of the religious and social rights of the Kashmiri people. This act amounts to an insult to the holy month and a severe injury to the religious sentiments of millions of Kashmiris.
She further stated that the circulation of such obscene videos on social media is clear evidence of Indian conspiracies and Hindutva-driven anti-Islamic schemes, which are completely unacceptable, especially in Jammu and Kashmir. Samia Sajid emphasized that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are already suffering from severe human rights violations at the hands of Indian forces. Now, such incidents are part of a deliberate attempt to subject the Kashmiri people to further psychological and mental pressure, which they will not tolerate under any circumstances.
She pointed out that while the Indian government claims to be a secular and democratic state, it simultaneously fuels religious and cultural discord in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This blatant contradiction exposes the hypocritical nature of the Indian government.
“We demand that the occupying administration conduct an impartial investigation into this incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” she said.
Samia Sajid also expressed disappointment over the silence of the international community regarding the ongoing inhumane atrocities, killings, demographic changes, and the deprivation of property and jobs by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. She criticized the double standards of the international community and urged them to take immediate notice of India’s state terrorism in the region. She called for the protection of the fundamental, religious, human, and social rights of the Kashmiri people and stressed the need to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and UN resolutions so that they, like other nations, can decide their future with freedom.
