JKLF condemns police action against students in MZB and appeals for an amicable solution

Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in very strong words has slammed Indian foreign minister Mr. S. Jaishankar on his recent statement he made on Jammu Kashmir during a function at Chatham House in United Kingdom wherein he had claimed that India has restored growth, economic activity and social justice in Jammu Kashmir and that they are now waiting for the return of the parts of Jammu Kashmir under Pakistani control to resolve the issue completely.

According to the statement issued from central information office, the JKLF chief spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar, while terming the claims of Indian foreign minister as unrealistic, unreasonable and baseless, said that the ongoing freedom movement backed with unprecedented sacrifices, presence of almost a million Indian forces in the area, public commitments of Indian leaders and the UNSC resolutions on Jammu Kashmir stand witness to the fact that entire State of Jammu Kashmir is a long pending unresolved and internationally recognized issue concerning the fulfilment of aspirations and unfettered right of self-determination of a forcibly subjugated nation.

The JKLF spokesman said that the Indian FM’s remarks on Kashmir are contrary to UNSC, as well as UNCIP resolutions. He further said that many reports of some renowned local and international human rights organizations, especially of UNHRCO’s two consecutive reports of 2018 and 2019, on human rights situation in Jammu Kashmir and the unabated use of draconian laws in place against the freedom loving peaceful political workers and political victimization of top pro-freedom political leaders serves as an eye opener to the world conscience about the false Indian claims of restoring social justice and all.

The JKLF spokesman reiterated its party stand that Jammu Kashmir belongs to none other than its State Subjects, and elaborated that Kashmir is not a territorial dispute between India and Pakistan to be resolved by these two. While condemning the arrogant attitude of the Indian minister, he termed the Indian claims of taking the other part of Jammu Kashmir (AJK and GB) as their wishful thinking. He said that the State legally, factually and historically never belonged to India nor to Pakistan. JKLF stands for the immediate, peaceful, democratic, amicable and viable resolution of the Jammu Kashmir issue through a referendum, the statement read. He said that the re-unification and complete independence of the entire State of Jammu Kashmir followed by the resumption of its lost sovereignty is the only viable and honorable solution to the issue.

According to the statement , during a diplomatic activity, a two member JKLF delegation led by member supreme council and former president JKLF North America Zone Muhammad Haleem Khan accompanied by zonal secretary information Raja Mukhtar Ahmed met with Amb. Munir Akram, the permanent representative of Pakistan at the UN, at his office in New York, USA. The spokesman while giving the details of the meeting said that the JKLF delegation expressed to the Ambassador about some of their serious political concerns and the unjust behavior meted out to political leaders in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) at the hands of the government and its security institutions. While terming the inclusion of name of Sajid Mehmood Siddiqui, president JKLF AJK-GB Zone, in ECL by the government of Pakistan as shocking and surprising, the JKLF delegation demanded the removal of his name from the list (ECL) as early as possible as the action curbs his right to travel as a native citizen of a disputed State.

While rejecting the turning of the ceasefire line into a permanent border between India and Pakistan, and any kind of division-like solution of the State, the JKLF delegation raised a number of issues pertaining to the freedom movement. The Ambassador after patient hearing assured the delegation to address each of the concerns expressed, the statement read.

The statement also condemned the police action against the students in Kashmir University, Muzaffarabad and appealed for an amicable solution to the just demands of the students.
