USA, (PR) : Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský concluded his working visit to Washington D.C. on Friday. During two days he presented Czech interests to representatives of the new US administration and Congress. The main items on the agenda were a meeting with the Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, General Keith Kellogg, and a meeting with representatives of American technology companies on the export of AI chips.

“General Kellogg was interested in the Czechia’s opinion on Russian aggression. The Ukrainians need to be armed enough to negotiate from a strong position. It is clearly in the Czech interest that Russia never dares to attack its neighbour again,” Minister Lipavský said after his meeting with Kellogg.

The head of Czech diplomacy held talks with a number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The topic was the security of Europe. “The fact that we have to contain Russia resonates very strongly here,” Lipavský said.

Minister Lipavský also met with representatives of US technology companies, with whom he discussed the previous administration’s decision to limit exports of artificial intelligence chips. “The decision to split allies into two categories on chip exports undermines efforts to keep cutting-edge technology in the hands of the free world,” Lipavsky said after the meeting. He then presented U.S. diplomat Paula Dobriansky with the Medal of Merit for Diplomacy during a meeting of the Atlantic Council think tank.
