MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : Azad Jammu Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry on Sunday extended his heartfelt felicitations to the founding Vice Chairman AJK Press Foundation Sardar Zulfiqar Ali on being elected as a member of the governing body of the institution, it was officially said.
While talking to Ali on phone on Sunday the president said that he was heartening to see that press foundation, established in late 1990s, has transformed into a vibrant institution, AJK President office said.
The president said that he had made a formal announcement regarding the establishment of the press foundation during electioneering campaign in 1996.
He expressed the optimism that the foundation would continue to work for the welfare of journalist community and promote independent journalism in the region.
He also expressed the optimism that the journalistic community will fully adhere to the journalistic ethics and principles of objective journalism.
Barrister Chaudhry said that the state has fulfilled its responsibilities and now it was the responsibility of journalists to make it successful.
