Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Provincial Minister for Local Government & Commuity Development Zeeshan Rafiq, along with political leader Tahira Aurangzeb and Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak, presided over a high level meeting to review status of Sathra Punjab project. He said that so far 17 Tehsils across the division have been outsourced. Whereas, Outsourcing is in progress in Tehsil Pind Dadan Khan, Khewra, Kallar Kahar, Choa Syedan Shah and pre-qualification in this regard has been completed. He said that the union councils in which the process of outsourcing has been completed shall enter in the operational phase before December 1dt, 2024 and the target of January 1, 2025 has been set to be operational in the union councils whose outsourcing is still in process. He said that to ensure the full participation of the people in this sanitation system, an app called “Saaf Rawalpindi” and 1139 toll-free number have been launched. 2 to 3 hours time will be given to the contractor for prompt resolution of public complaints.
In this meeting held at Commissioner’s Office Rawalpindi regarding Suthra Punjab, members National and Provincial Assembly across the division, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, DC Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, CEO Rawalpindi Waste Management Company, Director Local Government, ACs and contractors of tehsils were also present there.
Provincial Minister Zeeshan Rafiq added that cleanliness is half faith and also the dire need of time. Earlier there was sanitation system in the cities but due to its absence in the villages the sanitation system was very much compromised. For this reason, Punjab government launched this program to bring a strong and stable local government system across the province. He further said that after the full implementation of this system, garbage will be collected from house to house in the cities and placed in containers and taken from there to the temporary transfer station and then to the main dumping site. Similarly, by collecting the garbage from the villages, a four walls garbage enclosure will be established in every four union councils and the garbage will be collected there. After that, a temporary transfer station will be established at almost every tehsil level where after all the garbage is collected, it will be taken to the dumping point on the same day. Provincial Minister said that this outsourcing system will be monitored in a digital way, which includes biometric attendance, vehicle tracking management system, and vehicle weight at the dumping site, digital monitoring of the fleet and container clearance through geo-tagging and immediate complaints resolutions. He said that all the required resources are being provided by the Punjab government for this project after which there will be no compromise in the sanitation situation in the cities and villages.
