Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : President Women Chamber, Ms. Sonia, and Secretary Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Azad Kashmir, Dr. Raja Zahid Khan, met with businesswomen in Poonch Division to discuss issues faced by women entrepreneurs. The meeting focused on problems related to raw material supply, transportation, taxes, and product marketing.
Women entrepreneurs identified affordable raw material supply, transportation, and taxation as major challenges. They emphasized the government’s role in resolving these issues.
Poonch is a fertile land, and its women have played an exceptional role in various fields, including business. With government support, businesswomen can access global markets.
The meeting was organized by Zhooq Kashmir’s CEO, Ms. Mahwish Mir, and Head of Women Empowerment, Abrish Fatima. Women entrepreneurs from Poonch Division participated in large numbers.
Ms. Sonia briefed the participants about Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Azad Kashmir’s journey, challenges, and achievements. She highlighted the chamber’s participation in investment conferences and trade fairs.
Dr. Raja Zahid Khan shared the chamber’s performance and future objectives, particularly regarding women empowerment through small and medium enterprises. He presented the recommendations of the special committee formed to develop an SME policy.
The participants appreciated the committee’s efforts and expressed their resolve to strengthen Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Azad Kashmir.
The meeting concluded with a resolution thanking the Azad Kashmir government, particularly the Chief Secretary, Secretary Industry and Commerce, Chairman TIKA, and other members, for including Women Chamber in the policy-making group.
Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Azad Kashmir aims to organize expos and trade fairs at the divisional level in collaboration with the government and private sector to promote women’s businesses and create new opportunities.
