Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times): The 156th meeting of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Zakat Council was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Azad Jammu and Kashmir Zakat Council Ch.Muhammad Siddiq. The meeting was attended by Secretary Zakat and Ushr Irshad Ahmed Qureshi and respected members of the Zakat Council. The Zakat Council fully agreed with the program of reforms in the Zakat and Ushr Department on behalf of the Azad Kashmir government and expressed the hope that these reforms would be carried out by the government. It was said that reasonable financial support should be given to the needy and poor sections of the society. The Zakat Council has approved the budget of the fiscal year 2024-25 worth Rs 69,08,68,702. In the meeting it was agreed in principle to give a golden handshake to the department on the basis of the approval of the budget to increase the amount allocated for Zakat from Rs. In addition to increasing the amount from Rs.07 million to Rs.136.9 million and 80 thousand rupees. The financial support of the deserving persons undergoing treatment in medical institutions was also increased from Rs.01 million to 75 million to Rs.02 million and 48 million, in addition to the first a sum of Rs. 01 crore has been allocated in the budget for the education expenses of the orphan students. The Zakat Council has eliminated all the unnecessary expenses from the budget and this amount will ensure the maximum financial support of the deserving ones. Efforts will be continued to the extent possible to deliver Zakat to the real beneficiaries. Chairman Zakat Council Muhammad Siddique Chaudhry paid tribute to all the members for performing Zakat and Ushr without payment and according to the vision of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir. He added that the efforts will continue to implement more excellent reforms in Zakat and Ushar Department.
