I am writing to express my deep concerns on the recently updated report “The Missing Third of Pakistan” by the Pak Alliance for Mathematics and Science. The report reveals that 25.3 million children aged from 05 to 16 years that is 36% are out of the school. Among these out of the school children ,53% are girls and 47% are boys. Shockingly, children aged from 05 to 09 years that is 51% have never attended school. While 21% are out of the school children are those who have never dropped out,79% never attended school or even enrolled in the school according to the report. There is a visible gap between privileged students and the ones who can’t make their both ends meet in Pakistan, students from elite class enjoy modern technology in education whereas many can’t have access to educate themselves. Instead of privatizing schools we need to completely rethink our education system and the picture should be viewed in the border socioeconomic and political context. We can only change educational inequality by making big changes in the education system and providing fair access for education for everyone. –Aiman Mansoor
