Palandri/ MIRPUR ( AJK) (Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said that no state can sustain without a proper taxation system.
While addressing a function held under the aegis of the District Bar Association here today, the PM said that collecting taxes was the only way for governments to generate revenues that make it possible to launch welfare programs for the common people.
He said that everyone talks about rights, but no one talks about one’s own duties and responsibilities towards the state and society.
The Prime Minister said that the subsidy being offered on flour was meant for the poor who cannot afford to buy it from the open market.
He said that in Azad Kashmir every citizen regardless of his or her social status was now enjoying subsidy in terms of cheap electricity and cheap flour. “We have facilities that people in any other provinces of Pakistan cannot even imagine”, the PM added.
The PM, on the occasion, the legal fraternity’s key role in the society and smooth functioning of the government.”Lawyers can play an important role in the betterment of our society”, he said, adding that rule of law implies that every citizen was subject to the law.
The PM also announced a one million rupees grant for the District Bar Association. The demands of the bar association, he said, would be fulfilled.The function was also addressed by government minister Sardar Muhammad Hussain, Ms. Nabila Ayub and others.
