6th September is a proud national day for the Pakistani nation. This is a very memorable day in our national and military history. On that day, India, a country almost six times bigger than us, with the superiority of manpower and the arrogance of war, without any announcement, attacked our beloved Pakistan in the dark of night. The brave nation of Pakistan, showing enthusiasm and determination, crushed all the ambitions of the enemy and fought the enemy with courage and bravery, the like of which cannot be found in history. The Indo-Pak War of 1965 made it clear to the world that wars are won not only with deadly weapons, cannons, tanks, and army manpower but with national unity, determination, and the spirit of faith born under God’s help.
On September 6, 1965, the attack of the cowardly Indian army in the dark of the night was a great challenge to the state motto of the Pakistani nation, the two-nation ideology, national unity, and the spirit of patriotism, which the country not only accepted with great bravery and the spirit of jihad. Rather, with its steadfastness in this test, our beloved country Pakistan crushed an enemy many times bigger than itself. This war presented examples of eternal sacrifices, which lasted for seventeen days.
The Pakistani nation has proved that we are a living nation and it is not easy to erase our name and mark from the world. During the war, every Pakistani had only one concern that he had to face the enemy and win against him. People from all walks of life like teachers, students, poets, writers, artists, singers, doctors, civil defense volunteers, laborers, farmers, and media representatives all had one tune and voice saying ‘Ay Mard E Mujahid Jaaag zra , Ab waqt e Shahadat hay aya”. Pakistan defeated the enemy with a crushing defeat by showing only unity and trust in Allah This year, Pakistan Defense Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm across the country and the determination was expressed that our nation will not hesitate to make any sacrifice alongside the forces of Pakistan for the defense of the homeland. Minister of Education AJ&K Dewan Ali Khan Chughtai and General Officer Commanding 12 Division Major General Muhammad Irfan placed floral wreaths on the martyrs’ memorial in Muzaffarabad on Pakistan Defense Day.
saluted the memorial martyrs and marched past. School children presented the national songs with full enthusiasm. Government ministers, local brigade commanders, civil society, families of martyrs, and students of schools and colleges participated in the ceremony in massive numbers. This year, on the occasion of Defense Day, a bicycle rally was organized in Pirchanasi, a well-known tourist destination of Muzaffarabad, the bicycle rally ended at Neelum Stadium. 30 bicycle athletes participated in the bicycle race, and a grand ceremony was held for the athletes at the end of the race.
The purpose of the cycle race was to highlight the beauty of Muzaffarabad. The winning athletes were also awarded prizes by the Pakistan Army. On Defense Day, a ceremony was held at 5AK Brigade Muzaffarabad on the fourth martyrdom anniversary of Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Shaheed from Muzaffarabad. Nasir Hussain Shaheed sacrificed his life for his country during a clash with terrorists in North Waziristan. He was martyred along with three soldiers. Many people belonging to different schools of thought participated in the ceremony. Lt. Nasir Hussain Shaheed’s mother and family were special guests at the ceremony. Brigadier Mehtab Idrees paid tribute to Nasir Hussain Shaheed and said that those who sacrificed for the sake of their beloved country can never be forgotten.
The sacrifices of martyrs are the faith and hope of the nation. Commander 5 AK Brigade Waqar Najeeb said that Nasir Shaheed was one of my brilliant students and an excellent officer. The sacrifices of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country since 1947 are unforgettable. The spirit of giving life for the sake of the country is not awarded to everyone. The mother of Lt. Nasir Hussain Shaheed said that Nasir Hussain is not my son but the son of the whole country and the nation and every son of the nation sees its martyred son, Nasir. Being Hussain’s mother is a source of pride for me. Like the rest of the country, Defense Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Leepa Valley near the area of Line of Control. Martyrs Memorial was inaugurated on the occasion of Pakistan Defense Day.
It was inaugurated by the conqueror of Leepa Haq Nawaz Kayani Shaheed’s companions Mujahid Abdul Samad Mir and Anwaar Baig. The candidate of Assembly Constituency Seven Shaukat Javed Mir and other civil and military officials participated in the ceremony. The Commanding Officer placed floral wreaths on the martyrs. On this occasion, the military leadership and the people of the area made a chain of hands and shouted slogans of Pakistan Zindabad. On that special day, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Chakothi on the Line of Control. A weapons exhibition was held to raise the morale and independence of the citizens.
The soldiers of the Pakistan Army did rehearsals to provide awareness to the citizens. The citizens who participated in the demonstration expressed that women are also ready to lay down their lives for the nation alongside men. “We don’t only know how to take up weapons, but we will show it when the time comes”. On Defense Day, the Green Flag Marathon was organized by the Pakistan Army and Raja Muhammad Mahmood Khan Government High School Khun Bhandway in which 250 students from 27 government schools participated. The marathon race started from Majhoi. The purpose of the Green Flag Marathon was to pay homage to the sacrifices of Pak martyrs. During the marathon race, the citizens held the national and state flags and accompanied the race in the form of a rally. Meanwhile, the slogans of Kashmir Banega Pakistan keep echoing. At the end of the Green Flag Marathon race, during the speech at the ceremony in the garden of Govt. Raja Muhammad Mehmood Khan School, Khun Bhandway, the chief guest, the commander of the Pakistan Army, Brigadier Qaiser Iqbal, said that independence is a great blessing on the blood ties between Azad Kashmir and Pakistan. The blood of Kashmiris is also involved for the sake of defending the homeland. While addressing the ceremony, political leader Raja Saqib Mehmood, principal of school Inam-ul-Haq Hashmi, and other speakers said that the slogan of Syed Ali Geelani Shaheed is “We are Pakistanis, Pakistan is our”.
Many students and teachers as well as a large number of people belonging to different schools of thought participated in the program. The district administration and medical teams fully supported the program. Chairman SMC School Raja Zain Mehmood welcomed all the guests. A speech competition was organized in Muzaffarabad on Pakistan Defense Day. Students from various schools, colleges, and universities of Muzaffarabad participated in the speech competition. Commander 1 AK Brigade Brigadier Qaiser and Colonel (R) Farooq were the chief guests of the event. On Pakistan Defense Day the ceremony was organized by the Pakistan Army at Kohala to pay homage to those who laid down their lives for the defense of the motherland. Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, Brigadier Commander 12 Division, military officers, political leaders, students, and officers participated in the ceremony. Flag unfurling and then salute to the national flag was also given at Kohala bridge On that day floral wreaths were placed at the Martyrs’ shrine in Dhadhyal and Pakistan’s national flag was also unfurled on the occasion of September 6th. A ceremony was organized in Pilot High School to pay homage to the martyrs in Haveli Kahuta.
Mehfil E Mushaira was held at Boys Post Graduate College Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Pakistan Defense Day on September 6 organized by Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Academy. The poet received praise and appreciation by presenting speeches in Urdu, Kashmiri, Pahari, and Gojri languages regarding Martyrs and Pakistan Defense Day. On this Special Day, a prayer ceremony organized by Kashmir Center Mirpur was held in Jamia Masjid, District Kachehri Mirpur. September 6th, 1965, reminds us of the days of the War when the armed forces of Pakistan and the entire nation defended their independence and national dignity against Indian aggression. On this day, our Pakistan Army officers, soldiers, navy men, and air force soldiers proved to the world alongside the brave Pakistani nation that they are always ready to defend the motherland bravely at any cost. The entire Kashmiri nation pays great respect and salute to the greatness of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of Pakistan.
Kashmiri forces living on both sides of the bloodline consider Pakistan as their protectorate while the Indian army is a symbol of hatred for Kashmiris. Pakistan Army is making unprecedented sacrifices for the defense of the motherland and it is fully capable of countering any aggression. We need the spirit and unity of September 6, 1965 to deal with the conditions that our beloved country Pakistan is facing today.
