Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Private educational institutions across the country have reacted strongly against the government’s proposed imposition of Point of Sales Tax on private schools charging a monthly fee of more than one thousand rupees, threatening nationwide protests.The central president of All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association, Dr. Malik Abrar Hussain warned the government that the said tax will make education very expensive and beyond the reach of the common man.25% tax means directly that the person taking 4000 fee will now take 5000 fee which will be borne by the parents.This initiative also negates the government’s slogan of education for all and the initiative of educational emergency.
Yesterday, a meeting of the central executive of All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association was held in the central office under the chairmanship of Dr. Malik Abrar Hussain.In the meeting, regarding the proposed tax imposed by the FBR on the private education sector of Pakistan, it was clearly decided that any tax on education would be strongly opposed.Apart from this, the concerns of the educational institutions and students on the FSC level results of the Federal Board Islamabad will be conveyed to the higher authorities and a strategy was decided to solve this problem as well.The action plan will be decided by the CDA of the educational institutions located in the sectoral area of Islamabad after the decision of the high court of non-conforming use.The association will play its leading role in solving the problems of private educational institutions across the country and public-private partnership.Apart from Dr. Malik Abrar Hussain, Secretary General Muhammad Ashraf Haraj, Javed Iqbal Raja, Irfan Muzaffar Kia Ni, Malik Hafeezur Rahman, Sardar Gul Zubair Khan, Haji Abdul Rahim, Muhammad Ibrahim, Qasim Abbas, Antakah Hussain, Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed, Tariq Mehmood.
