Hazro : Member district monitoring committee and former provincial Minister Jahangir Khanzada inaugurated the ‘Saf Suthra Punjab’ initiative for the Hazro city on Sunday. Assistant commissioner Hazro Rana Kamran Ashraf, PML Hazro chapter president Malik Ansar Ahmed, Chairman, Vice Chairman of different Union Councils (UCs), officials of district councils and notables of the area were also present on this occasion. Speaking as Chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, Jahangir Khanzada pledged to implement innovative sanitation models following the outcomes of the “Suthra Punjab” Programme,” emphasizing the Punjab government’s commitment to providing a clean environment for citizens. “The local administration on Sunday launched a comprehensive cleanliness drive in a proactive move to implement the directives of Chief Minister Punjab for a cleaner Punjab , leaving no street or road untouched”, he added. Mr Khanzada said that as per priorities of Clean Punjab campaign, daily targets have been given to the municipal bodies to ensure provision of clean and healthy environment to the public which include complete cleaning and improvement of sewage and drainage and environmental friendly activities including good cleaning and timely waste management in the streets of urban and rural areas. He said that the focal officers of the municipal committees and district council are regularly monitoring the sanitation and waste management in the respective scopes to ensure the completion of the sanitation targets on a daily basis.
Assistant commissioner Hazro Rana Kamran Ashraf while speaking on this occasion hs said that a clean environment is essential to prevent many diseases including dengue. He was of the view that a clean environment could protect the citizens from various diseases. All possible steps are being taken to make the city zero waste, he added. He appealed to the public that instead of throwing the garbage of the houses in the streets, they should put it in the containers designated by the municipal bodies so that there is no problem of sanitation. He was of of the view that a clean and disease-free environment can be maintained on a permanent basis only with the cooperation of the citizens.
