Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), presided over the 176th meeting of the Board of Governors of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Islamabad. Besides normal agenda, the Board discussed and reviewed progress on various initiatives launched for the facilitation & welfare of overseas Pakistanis.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman, BoG Syed Qamar Raza apprised the meeting regarding successful holding of a grand reception held on 6th September, 2024 at Millenium Gloucester Hotel, London chaired by Mr.Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan and attended by 500 plus overseas Pakistanis from UK and other parts of Europe. The function has had a significant impact on Pakistani community which will yield better results for the country.
The Board also resolved to form Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Council with two hundred members. to be nominated on the basis of their contribution for the country and community, from across the world to represent Pakistani community in the respective countries and to effectively play their role in addressing issues of diaspora. Similarly, an Overseas Pakistanis Youth Council has been proposed to be established by the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation to connect young overseas Pakistanis with the county of origin. In the first phase ten to fifteen students from Europe, Americas and other countries will be invited to visit Pakistan preferably having expertise in mass communication, journalism and social media.
The Chairman, BoG, OPF also stressed upon all concerned to work to dedicatedly make OPF a model organization by taking it to highest level as per his commitment.
Chairman, Syed Qamar Raza also thanked and appreciated the Board Members for their hard work, dedication and contribution they made in the respective Committees of Board, particularly Mr.Shaheen Khalid Butt, Mr.Afzal Bhatti, Ms Onaza Ehsan Butt, Mr.Muhammad Kamran (coopted member).
The Board Members also expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman, BoG, OPF for his devotion and efforts being made by him to elevate OPF as a model organization to effectively serve overseas Pakistanis and the country.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to and from the Chair.
