Muzaffarabad/ MIRPUR ( AJK) (Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Ch Anwarul Haq has said that the people of Azad Kashmir were well aware of India’s despicable role in killing Kashmiri people and promoting terrorism in the region.
Reacting to the Indian Defense Minister’s recent statement, the AJK premier termed India as a tyrant that besides depriving Kashmiris of their basic rights has killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in the illegally occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Hitting back at India’s human rights record, the PM said that before issuing such irresponsible statements the Indian defense minister should have hanged his head down in shame to see how they treated Kashmir and Kashmiri people since 1947.”Around 100,000 ordinary citizens were martyred by Indian occupation forces, whereas thousands of cases of mass rape, extrajudicial killing of youths, enforced disappearances have been reported in Kashmir since 1989″, he said.
The PM said that more than 8,000 unnamed mass graves have been discovered in the valley.
The Indian government, he said, had turned the held territory of Jammu and Kashmir into a prison where people feel suppressed, suffocated and robbed of their rights and identity.
The PM said that India was not only responsible for bloodshed and violence in the held territory but also in Azad Kashmir. He said that how can people of Azad Kashmir forgot the bloodbath of their loved ones killed by India’s unprovoked firing and shelling on the LoC.
The PM said instead of worrying about the people of Azad Kashmir India government must quit Kashmir, withdraw its occupation forces from the territory and allow Kashmiri people to determine their political future in line with the UNSC resolutions. He said that the people of Azad Kashmir consider India as an aggressor that had illegally and forcibly occupied the territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the people in Azad Kashmir enjoy all the basic human rights.
The prime minister said that the Pakistan Army has always played the role of a protector whereas the Kashmiri people on both sides of the LoC see the Indian army as a murderous army that has no respect for law and human rights.
The Prime Minister said that India must respect the rights of the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and take concrete steps to resolve the lingering dispute in line with the United Nations resolutions. He said that it was imperative for the international community to hold India accountable for its heinous and illegal actions in Kashmir.
