Neelum/ MIRPUR ( AJK) (Parliament Times) : Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said “the quality construction of the Neelum valley Highway is key to the socio-economic development of this picturesque top mountainous Neelam valley.
While addressing a reception at Phulwai and Sardari in Neelum valley on Monday, the PM said that better road infrastructure was crucial for the region’s development and progress.
Anwaar continued that the construction of Neelum Highway would be instrumental in promoting tourism and creating employment opportunities at local level.He said that funds for the construction of Neelum highway were arranged by slashing the share of development funds allocated for other constituencies.
In order to improve the lives of people in the mountainous area, the PM said, “Neelum has been given additional funds than other areas of the state “.
The PM said that the government took effective notice of the poor construction of the main highway and the concerned stakeholders have been given 15-day ultimatum to ensure quality construction of the highway.He said that there would be no compromise on quality construction of Neelam highway.
Anwaar said that the work on the Phoolwai project also hinged on the completion of the Neelum highway.”The government won’t tolerate any corruption or misuse of public money under any circumstances”, the PM added.
The Prime Minister said that the plans proposed by the elected representative of the concerned constituencies would be implemented in letter and spirit.Meanwhile, while talking to students at Sardari, the PM said that the ample resources were required for upgradation of educational institutions.He said that merely issuing notifications won’t bring any change on the ground.
Regarding shortage of teaching staff in schools and colleges in the area, the PM expressed the optimism that the the better road infrastructure and traveling facilities from Muzaffarabad to Neelum would be helpful to address these critical issues.
President Muslim League-N Azad Kashmir Shah Ghulam Qadir, Senior Minister Colonel (Rtd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, Government Ministers Mian Abdul Waheed, Pir Mazhar Saeed Shah, Azhar Sadiq were also present on this occasion.
