Neelum, (Parliament Times) : A special ceremony was organized on the occasion of Pakistan Defense Day at newly constructed martyrs’ memorial at Keren Zero-point wherein eulogizing tributes were paid to martyrs of Pakistan army who laid down their lives while defending the country’s territorial sovereignty.
Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq and General Officer Commanding Major General Muhammad Irfan were the chief guests of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the PM Haq and other speakers lauded the Pakistan army’s significant contribution and sacrifices for Pakistan. They also reiterated Kashmiris’ pledge to carry forward the mission for which the martyrs had laid down their precious lives.
It is worth mentioning here that Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik’s wife Ms. Mashaal Malik and the heirs of the martyrs were specially invited in the ceremony.
Earlier, a spectacular military parade was held to commemorate the proud legacy of Pakistan army and its brave hearts who offered their blood and sweat to safeguard their motherland.
Local singers, on the occasion, won the hearts of the audience with iconic national and folk songs.
A documentary showcasing the unprecedented sacrifices and struggle of the heirs of the martyrs of Pakistan Army and their determination to sacrifice everything for the defense of the motherland was shown.
Meanwhile, certificates of appreciation and commemorative shields were awarded to individuals for their excellent performance in their respective fields of life.
At the end of the ceremony, a spectacular display of fireworks was displayed.
Earlier, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq along with General Officer Commanding Major General Muhammad Irfan inaugurated the newly constructed Kashmir Martyrs’ Memorial and also hoisted the flag.
The Martyrs’ memorial was constructed with the support of World Kashmir Forum. The event was attended by President PML-N Azad Kashmir chapter Shah Ghulam Qadir, Senior Minister Colonel (Rtd) Waqar Ahmad Noor, Government Ministers Mian Abdul Waheed, Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah, Azhar Sadiq, Dewan Ali Khan Chaghtai, Akbar Ibrahim, Akmal Hussain Sargala, Abdul Majid Khan were present at the event. Raja Muhammad Siddique Khan, Sardar Zia Qamar, Chaudhry Amir Yasin, Chief Secretary Daud Muhammad Barich civil and military officials.
