Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : On the occasion of Pakistan’s Defence Day, Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed, President of Faiz-ul-Islam (AFI), along with Divisional Director of Punjab Social Welfare Department Muhammad Shahid Rana, other officials of AFI, and Boy Scouts, laid a floral wreath at the memorial of Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, the first martyr and first Nishan-e-Haider recipient of Pakistan. They prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for the defence of the motherland.
Speaking to media representatives on the occasion, Dr. Riaz Ahmed said that our young generation should be aware that Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar was the first martyr and first Nishan-e-Haider recipient of Pakistan, who bravely fought against the enemy in Kashmir’s valleys and ultimately sacrificed his life in 1948 in Ladakh. He said that the enemy did not hand over the body of our brave soldier, and today we stand at his memorial in Singhori village, which was built in 1967 by Ayub Khan.
Dr. Riaz Ahmed said that all martyrs are our national heroes, and we are proud of our heroes and the Pakistan Armed Forces. He added that the Armed Forces are our shield.
Muhammad Shahid Rana, Director of Punjab Social Welfare Department Rawalpindi Division, Group Captain (Retd) Pervez Akhtar, General Secretary of AFI, Director of Mandara Campus, Scout Leader Shahid Ali Taj, Malik Naeem Amjad, and Boy Scouts laid floral wreaths at Captain Sarwar Shaheed’s memorial and offered special prayers for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for the forgiveness of all Muslims who have passed away. Muhammad Shahid Rana also laid a floral wreath at the memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs, saying that it is due to their sacrifices that we are living in freedom today.
