Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak while presiding over the review meeting of the Divisional Development Working Party approved the widening of 66 km Rawalpindi Murree Kashmir Road on Lower Topa , Murree. He said that the road is inadequate to accommodate the high traffic volume due to tourist influx and commercial activities so there is an urgent need for expansion of the road to remove this bottleneck. The estimated cost of this 66 km long road to be executed by the Punjab Highway Department is 133 million and the time for its completion will be 06 months.
Additional Commissioner Coordination Syed Nazarat Ali, Assistant Director Development, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning), SE Highways, Xen Building, National Highways and other concerned government departments participated in this meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office Rawalpindi.
Commissioner Rawalpindi said that 395 schemes worth 228.823 billion are included in Rawalpindi Division under the annual development programs to raise the quality of life of the people of Rawalpindi. Out of these, 274 are ongoing while 121 are new schemes which will bring convenience to the public after their completion. Engineer Aamir Khattak directed that the policy guidelines given for the ongoing development projects across the division should be followed according to the law. Along with the use of quality materials, the speed of work should be expedited to ensure timely completion of these projects. He said that the delayed projects cause hardship and inconvenience to the people instead of comfort.
