Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : CISS-AJK in collaboration with the (KIIR) commemorated the third death anniversary of the renowned Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Shah Gillani by organizing a roundtable discussion on the subject.
Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director of CISS-AJK, and Mr. Altaf Wani, Chairman of KIIR, paid tribute to Gillian’s lifelong struggle for the right to self-determination for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Both highlighted the immense hardships Gillani faced at the hands of occupational forces, noting that much of his life was spent under house arrest. Despite this, his resolve remained unshaken, and his dedication to the Kashmir cause became a symbol of hope and resistance for the oppressed people of IIOJK.
Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja paid tribute to Syed Ali Shah Gillian’s and highlighted that his name will forever be synonymous with the Kashmir freedom movement. His unwavering commitment, even in the face of imprisonment and relentless persecution, has left an indelible mark on the struggle for justice and freedom in Kashmir. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. His struggle served as a reaffirmation of the nation’s unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people. Gillian’s enduring legacy as a beacon of hope and resistance will always be remembered, and his contributions to the Kashmir cause will remain a guiding light for the freedom struggle. Syed Gillian’s famous statement “We are Pakistani and Pakistan is ours” was also highlighted during the discussion.
