Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Amjad Chaudhry, the chief editor of daily Sada -e Chinar, has become the president of All Kashmir Newspapers Society, (AKNS), for the second time. was held yesterday in Islamabad, in which all 63 members of the organization from Islamabad, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch Division voted. Amjad Chaudhry won with 33 votes for the presidency, while Chief Editor Kashmir Express Sardar Zahid Tabassum got 27 votes.
For secretary information, Raja Amjad, chief editor of daily Dumail, won the election by getting 39 votes, while his opponent, Younis Khan Niazi, Chief editor of Shadab, got 22 votes.
Election of secretary finance was won by Ijaz Khan, chief of daily Jannat Nazir, by getting 37 votes, while his opponent, Sardar Imtiaz, the chief of weekly Rwabit, got 24 votes. Similarly, Nisar Kayani, the chief of daily Nile Free, won the election with 35 votes and his rival, Nisar Saim of Miraj International, got 25 votes. Candidates for the remaining posts had already won unopposed, including Sherbaz Munir Chaudhry for Senior Vice President, Sardar Abid Siddique and Abid Abbasi for Vice Presidents, Mumtaz Ali Khaksar for Deputy Secretary, while Dilawar Bukhari, Haroon Al Rashid, Shahzad Lulabi, Ishtiaq Atesh, Malik Aamir are included for 5 seats of the governing Body.
The duties of the Election Commission was performed by Javed Iqbal Chaudhry while the members included Sardar Zavalafiqar, Khalid Chaudhry, Raja Kafeel and Sardar Abdul Hameed. After the election, the newly elected President Amjad Chaudhry appointed all the members.
Expressing his gratitude, he vowed to strengthen the organization, while Sardar Zahid Tabssum congratulated all the winners, including Amjad Chaudhry. Apart from newspaper owners, a large number of members of Kashmir Journalist Forum were also present on the occasion.
