Lahore, (PR) : PDMA’s rescue and relief activities are ongoing in view of the floods in the Indus River. 34 villages of Mianwali, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur were flooded. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that 24 boats and 78 rescue workers are engaged in rescue activities. A total of 36 relief camps have been set up in flood affected areas. 930 people were transferred to safe places in time. About 1572 people were provided treatment facilities in 33 medical campuses in the affected areas. 757 cattle have been shifted from flooded areas to safe places while 42714 animals have been vaccinated. Due to the timely response of the PDMA and the administration, there was no loss of life or property. He further said that a total of 785 houses and 49 thousand 212 acres of land were affected by the flood water. The flood situation is expected to persist in the Indus River for the next few days. In view of the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, all the concerned institutions should be on alert. The public is requested to cooperate with the administration in emergency situations. Rescue and relief activities will continue until the evacuation and rehabilitation of citizens. In case of emergency contact PDMA helpline 1129.
