Karachi, (PR) : During a meeting with the members of the Sindh Committee of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), Federal Secretary Information Ambrin Jan said that the freedom of the media is indispensable for a democratic society.
She appreciated CPNE’s historical and valuable services for freedom and protection of press in Pakistan. She assured to solve the problems faced by the media after listening carefully.
She has been entrusted with the responsibility of serving the media. She said that she will try to solve the problems of newspapers and magazines.
Earlier, CPNE Sindh Committee Chairman Aamir Mehmood and other members told the Federal Secretary Information that during the previous regime of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a 35 percent increase in the rate of newspaper advertisements was approved, which has not been implemented yet.
On this occasion, CPNE proposed to create a desk for communication between the government and the council so that the government is aware of the problems faced by the newspapers and journals in a timely manner.
At the end of the meeting, Chairman Amir Mehmood thanked the guests and presented the shield and award to Federal Secretary Information Ambrin Jan on behalf of CPNE.
On this occasion ,Senior Vice President Anwar Sajdi, Deputy Secretary General Ghulam Nabi Chandio, Deputy Chairman Sindh Committee Faqir Manthar Mangrio, Finance Secretary Hamid Hussain Abidi, Joint Secretary Arif Baloch and Manza Saham including senior members Dr. Jabar Khattak, Qazi Asad Abid, Maqsood Yousufi, Abdul Sami Mangrio, Syed Hasan Abbas, Sardar Muhammad Siraj, Ali Hamza Afghan, Sher Muhammad Khawar, Nusrat Mirza, Salman Qureshi, Muzaffar Ejaz, Shahid Sati, Muhammad Saeed Shah, Syed Mudassar Bukhari, Saleem Sheikh, Atif Sheikh, Ayaz Ali Memon, Imran Korrai, Naseem Sheikh and Faraz Ahmed Chandy were also present.
