Lahore, (PR) : Monsoon rains are likely in most districts of Punjab in the next 24 hours. In the last 24 hours, Murree recorded 18 mm, Rahim Yar Khan 17, Chakwal 12 and Joharabad also recorded 12 mm of rain. Due to monsoon rains, the water level in rivers, dams and canals is increasing. There is moderate flood in the Indus River at Chashma and Taunsa. There is a low level flood situation at Tarbela and Kala Bagh. The spell of monsoon rains is likely to continue till August 6. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that all arrangements are complete in view of possible flood risk. According to the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, the administration and concerned departments are on alert. Citizens should take precautionary measures and follow government guidelines. The PDMA report further stated that 54 civilians were killed and 141 injured in this year’s monsoon season. Deaths were caused by lightning and the collapse of dilapidated buildings. DG Irfan Ali Kathia further said that according to the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, financial assistance is being given to the families of the bereaved people.
