Dr. Abid Hussain
A four-day national conference named Lemon-Nexus of Mentors and Emerging Leaders began on July 25 in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy and JZT Pakistan. The opening ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Prof. Dr. Shahid Iqbal Awan, Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, warmly welcomed the 170 guests from various provinces and emphasized the importance of participating in extracurricular activities alongside education for mental and physical health. He assured full cooperation with the guests. Dr. Abid Hussain, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy, thanked the university administration for making the conference possible. He stated that the conference aimed to enhance self-confidence, leadership abilities, social and moral grooming, and motivation for voluntary service among students. The Registrar of University of Poonch expressed gratitude to all participants and highlighted key aspects of leadership. Chairman JZT Pakistan, Ghulam Dastgir, detailed the four-day conference schedule and assured that the trainers would ensure effective student training through various tasks. Regular training sessions then commenced with various speakers and trainers, including Usman Khattak, Assistant Director State Bank of Pakistan; Bilal Sahi, Entrepreneur and Career Counselor; Tariq Bin Gul Kakar, CSS Mentor; Noor Ul Huda Shah, Psychologist; Dr. Syed Nusrat Shah; Haris Alam Safi, Lawyer; and others. The second day of the conference also began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by continued sessions from various trainers. After the Friday prayer, the opening ceremony of the plantation drive took place, during which 150 plants of different species donated by JZT were planted in the pharmacy department. The Registrar of Poonch University, Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, DSA University of Poonch, Incharge MLT, and others participated. The Registrar emphasized the importance of nature conservation, stating that reducing trees leads to destruction. Dean Prof. Dr. Shahid Iqbal Awan highlighted the evident impact of deforestation on climate change and stressed the need to make our land green. He appreciated JZT Pakistan’s efforts in ensuring an eco-friendly plantation program in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy. Later, all the students from Pakistan planted saplings at the Chota Gula campus and visited the International Stadium, appreciating the vision of the Vice Chancellor.On the third day, the buses of Jamia Poonch took all participants to Toli Peer and Banjosa, tourist spots in Rawalakot. The visit provided an opportunity to witness the natural beauty and is expected to positively impact the tourism of Rawalakot and promote Jamia Poonch.
The fourth day began at 9 am with various training sessions, followed by the closing ceremony. Dr. Rehan Anjum, Director of the Pharmacy Residency Program at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad, participated as a special guest. He encouraged students to strengthen their social, moral, and leadership skills, highlighting that confidence and success go hand in hand. The Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences thanked all guests and the university administration, emphasizing that a true human being possesses the spirit of service. He stated that knowledge fosters awareness and self-confidence, and good leaders guide nations toward positive progress, transforming their land into a cradle of peace, knowledge, and literature. Dr. Abid Hussain thanked all organizers and guests, stating that such workshops and programs foster national harmony and are crucial for preparing students to face new challenges with confidence. Shields and certificates were then distributed to all organizers, the chief guest, and the trainers, concluding the conference.
Undoubtedly, this conference will not only aid students in ethical, social, and leadership development but also enhance the hospitality, tourism, and beauty of University of Poonch, Rawalakot. Where thinking is charismatic, performance is miraculous.
