MIRPUR ( AJK ), (Parliament Times) : The visiting Kashmir-origin Mayor of the British city of Nelson Chaudhry Aslam Joda and Councilor Ridley UK Raja Sajjad visited Allama Iqbal Open University Mirpur campus Friday where they were warmly received by the varsity’s management.
The delegation was flanked by UK based Kashmiri diaspora community’s veteran leader Raja Najabat Hussain on this occasion.
Our Special Jammu and Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports that the delegation had a special meeting with Regional Director of the University Sheikh Faisal Shahzad, who briefed of the curricular and co curricular activities of the varsity harmonious to the need of the modern age.
The delegation went round all the departments of the university and was briefed about all the ongoing educational programs in the university.
The British delegation and AIOU Mirpur principally agreed to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields together with Allama Iqbal Open University and declared m that in the near future Raja Najabat Hussain and Allama Iqbal Open University sign a memorandums of understanding to this direction.
Either side also decided to encourage promotion of practical cooperation in exchange of educational programmes through latest means of information technology.
The visiting British Councillors were granted admission by the AIOU as international students on honorary basis.
Regional Director Sheikh Shehzad planted commemorative saplings in the campus of the University along with Mayor of Pandal Britain Chaudhry Aslam Jodh and Raja Najabat Hussain.
The British delegation assured Sheikh Shahzad Regional Director Allama Iqbal Open University Mirpur of their all possible support and took special interest in the programs of the University and said that the large number of admissions in the University was a great success of the University.
Members of the British delegation observed on this occasion that nations do not develop without knowledge and skills and the way Allama Iqbal Open University was spreading knowledge was a work of great significance which was required to be appreciated as much as possible, they concluded.
