    Secretary MoD performs the groundbreaking ceremony of UCP in Rawalpindi Saddar.

    Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Secretary Ministry of Defense Lieutenant General (r) Hamud-ul-Zaman Khan performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the “Underground Cabling Project” in Rawalpindi Saddar. Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lieutenant General Shahid Imtiaz, DGML&C Major General Irfan Ahmad Malik, Director Rawalpindi Region Aamir Masood Khan, President and Station Commander Brig Ahmad Nawaz, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Vice President Malik Munir, Executive Officer Rawalpindi Cant Syed Ali Irfan Rizvi and others officers were present and participated in the ceremony.

    In Rawalpindi Cantt’s largest and busiest business center Saddar, the project has been started for underground electricity.

    In the first phase, work on underground cabling has started from Mall Road. Underground cabling will be completed in phase 1. Rawalpindi Cantonment has completed the tender process for civil works in Phase 1 of Mall Road (Service Road North), Hyder Road, Bank Road, Kashmir Road, Canning Road, and Link Road along with it, civil works (duct) work will be the responsibility of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and electrical works will be the responsibility of ISCO to make the project transparent to all stakeholders and a committee of senior officers has also been formed.

    CEO Rawalpindi Cantt Board Chairman Ali Irfan Rizvi said that he was striving for the prosperity of the residents and businessmen of the Cantt and the development of the area, which will not only increase the beauty of Rawalpindi Cantt but Rawalpindi Cantt will enter a new era of development.

    Providing a better environment for the people of the Cantt is our priority. The underground cabling project is a new project. A directive has been issued to ensure the completion of the project. Undergrounding the electricity system in Sadar’s markets will eliminate safety and accidents in the electricity system. Before starting the project, traffic police, administration, Punjab government, and Anjuman Tajran have been taken into confidence, he said.

    The cost of this project is Rs. 85 crores, of which Rs. 76 crores will be spent by ISCO for electrical equipment and Rs. 9 crores will be spent by Civil Works Rawalpindi Cantonment Board. On which the ISCO administration has started its work for the supply of electrical equipment, he said.
