Lahore, (PR) : Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi paid a visit to the Lahore Zoo late at night. CM reviewed the upgrade work of the Lahore Zoo and inspected the ongoing construction activities. Mohsin Naqvi expressed his indignation over not developing the parking area within the stipulated timeframe and ordered to development of the parking area soon. He inspected the under-construction bird cage, bear house, monkey house, and cages of other animals. CM while directing to ensure precautionary measures in the mirrors being installed in the monkey house ordered to build international standard cages for the animals. No compromise will be made with regard to upgrading the Lahore Zoo to an international standard. Secretary Wildlife and DG Wildlife gave a briefing to the CM about progress being made on the upgrade plan of the Lahore Zoo. CM while talking with the media stated that may it be a Provincial Minister, a Secretary, or a DG Wildlife, everyone is working on the upgradation project of the Lahore Zoo. Secretary Forest has shifted his office to the Lahore Zoo and remains in the zoo all the time. Hopefully, the Lahore Zoo will be completed within the stipulated timeline. New animals will be brought on near completion of the upgrade work of the Lahore Zoo. New animals will only be brought when their cages are 100 percent completed. Arrangements will have to be made before the shifting of animals because the animals go into depression after their shifting. We are fully aware that the Lahore Zoo is closed, new animals will be brought by 31st January and Lahore Zoo will be opened. 36 children died due to pneumonia in the last 10 days. 990 children died due to pneumonia last year. Deaths of children occur due to pneumonia every year. We are taking preventive measures for small children so that deaths can be reduced. Pneumonia has intensified due to cold weather. The Education Department has issued a notification with regard to SOPs. The classes of nursery and prep have been closed and relaxation in wearing a uniform has been done along with making the wearing of masks mandatory. The prevention of pneumonia is adopting care likewise corona. Elderly persons are also facing the risk of catching pneumonia like children. No one highlighted the matter with regard to the spreading of pneumonia. I have myself taken notice that more deaths are occurring due to pneumonia. Elephants will continue to remain in the Safari Zoo according to the international standard. The giraffe will remain in the Lahore Zoo and the Safari Zoo as well. Few animals will come to the Lahore Zoo and few will be brought in the Safari Zoo. No compromise is being made on the quality of the upgrade project of Lahore Zoo. Quality in the upgrade work is our foremost priority. Benazir Income Support is being run under the Federal government and the Punjab government has nothing to do with it. The employees of the Benazir Income Support Program belong to the Federal government and not to the Punjab government. If there is any administrative issue in the KPK then I cannot resolve it and it has to be resolved by the KPK government. If you highlight any problem with regard to the Punjab government then I will visit and get it resolved. The renovation of the shrines of the Sufia-i-Karam is ongoing. We strive to complete them as soon as possible. Bibi Pak Daman Darbar is in its last phase of completion and will be completed soon. Provincial Ministers Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Bilal Afzal, Ibrahim Hassan Murad, Secretary C&W, Secretary Forest, Secretary Livestock, Commissioner Lahore, Secretary to CM, Secretary to CM (Coordination), DG Wildlife, VC UVAS and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
