Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Karachi Council on Foreign Relations (KCFR) hosted a seminar with the Stimson Center delegation on December 8, 2023, at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The event, from 08:30 am to 12 Noon, focused on Current Affairs and Climate Change’s Impact on Pakistan. Air Marshal (R) Masood Akhtar inaugurated the seminar, highlighting Pakistan’s global strategic significance.

The first session, addressing contemporary issues, featured Dr. Adil Sultan as the keynote speaker, discussing challenges in US-Pakistan relations post-Afghanistan withdrawal. Ms. Elizabeth Threlkeld emphasized the importance of improved strategic relations in the upcoming 2024 elections.

The second session, ‘Climate Change and its Impact on Pakistan,’ featured Mr. Shahbaz Mehmood discussing climate change’s existential threat. He highlighted Pakistan’s vulnerability and commitment to climate action within the Paris Agreement.

Mr. Ikram Sehgal concluded the seminar, by challenging economic failure perceptions and advocating policy rectification for positive economic growth. The seminar, involving government officials, professors, the business community, think tanks, and civil society, provided valuable insights. KCFR is dedicated to promoting discourse on foreign relations, geopolitics, and economic affairs, while the Stimson Center addresses global threats impartially.
