Islamabad,(Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has said that besides encouraging sports activities, the Department of Sports would provide all possible support in promoting sports at all levels in Azad Kashmir.
While talking to a delegation led by All Azad Kashmir Hockey Association President Raja Mushtaq and Gulf Empire Chairperson Sardar Shahzeb, who called on him separately here today, the PM assured them that the government would provide all possible support for the promotion of sports in the AJK. ” Sports are not only a source of entertainment but they help us to improve our physical and mental health, quality of life and wellbeing”, the PM said, adding that sports play a vital role in creating a healthy society.”Sports bring positive changes in young people and create an atmosphere of competition”, he said. Playing sports, he said, helps children learn discipline and channel negative feelings positively. Kashmiri youth, he said, were very talented. “They (youth) have proved their mettle in every sphere of life”, the PM said. Earlier, President all Azad Kashmir Hockey Association Raja Mushtaq and Sardar Shahzeb briefed the Prime Minister about the All AJK Hockey Tournament and Nawab Jassi Khan Football Tournament being organized at Rawlakot and requested him to provide necessary assistance in this regard. The PM Haq, on the occasion, directed the sports secretary to provide all necessary support to the organizers to make sure that both events were held successfully.
