Gazala Anmbreen
The counter was decorated with different items, ornaments of different types. It caught his attention at first. His gaze got fixed over a small toy.It was a plastic aeroplane. He started watching other things but again his gaze stuck there. The wish to acquire it caught him instantly. He asked the prise. Shopkeeper told it was worth Rs 150. He thought it was a paltry amount and the person standing by his side would have no objection and would get it for him. When he asked , he said no. He implored again , but his request was brushed aside with a snub. With a timorous hope he again requested thinking might be his request is accepted. He beseeched, but to no avail. Again his eyes caught the attention of that aeroplane. He wanted that but all his requests were turned down so he came back with a heavy heart. He came home feeling very sad as it was not a wish which was impossible to be granted especially in the wake of the fact that he seldom demanded from his father. He engulfed his tears and tried to busy himself in daily routine, forgetting that all. But to his dismay he couldn’t, despite all his endeavours. Days passed by and fleeting of the days entailed deprivations of the similar kind, albeit the objects got changed. Sometimes it was yearning of a dress, sometimes an art set. His deprivations went on increasing with every passing day. Days turned into months and months in years, but his longings remained ungratified. He had a knack for making baskets and other handicrafts in his student life.so he tried to rejuvenate that art and tried to make different articles . That served for him a therapy to get rid of the burgeoning anguish. The more sad he felt, the more engrossed he got in his art work. One day while he was busy in making a bunch of flowers from raw cloth, an entrepreneur happened to visit his house and caught a glance over his products. Since he dealt in such decorative items and knew their worth, he asked him to sell a few articles to him. He initially felt astounded at this offer . But then reluctantly said yes. Gradually the demand for his items increased. His hand embroidery and needle work was increasingly in demand among ladies and gained a worthwhile visibility. He expanded his business and even hired skilled workers, quality control inspectors and artisans while he himself gave finishing touches to his products. Today he is among the top successful business persons dealing in hand made artifacts. His items are in a high demand even in countries abroad . But the memory of that aeroplane of RS 150 never left him. He tried to overcome that pain by making a resolve to spread his skill and teach more and more youngsters fighting poverty and the battle for survival in this world for them and their families and this served as quite an antidote to his wounds. It’s not easy to turn your weakness or deprivation into strength but once you are able to do that, sky would be the limit for you.
