Islamabad,(Parliament Times) : President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that Britain can play an important role in resolving the long-running Kashmir issue.
He expressed these views while speaking to a delegation of the British High Commission led by Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Zoe Ware, who called on him here today. Terming settlement of the lingering dispute as a key to regional peace in South Asia, the president said that the issue has been hanging around for the past 76 years. He said that the dire political and human rights situation in the Indian-occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir demands that the international community, especially the United Kingdom, should play its role to help resolve the dispute peacefully following the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
On the occasion, the President briefed the delegation about the latest situation in Occupied Kashmir. Besides Deputy High Commissioner Miss Zoe Ware, the delegation was comprised of Political Officer Russ McPartland and Political Advisor Miss Adila Khan.
