Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chapter, remains persistent in its commitment to assisting those affected by natural disasters and emergencies. What appears to be a benevolent gesture, In a recent response to a devastating landslide in the Damishi Abhiyal area of Muzaffarabad, the PRCS AJK Chapter has provided critical cash assistance to the affected families. In this context, PRCS AJK has distributed a sum of 40,000/ per family to 12 households of landslide affected families.
In this context a cheque distribution ceremony was held at Commissioner Office Muzaffarabad. The Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society AJK Chapter Ejaz Raza, Secretary PRCS AJK MS Gulzar Fatima, Additional Commissioner Muzaffarabad Shaukat Yusafzai and Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Raja Tahir Mumtaz attended the cheque distribution ceremony.
It is worth remembering, on 1 August a tragic landslide struck the Damishi Abhiyal locality, causing immense damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. This natural disaster resulted in the displacement of several families and left them in dire need of support. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, AJK Chapter, swiftly mobilized its resources to provide immediate assistance to the affected community.
PRCS AJK Chapter’s response included the distribution of cash assistance to the landslide victims. A total of PKR 40,000 per affected family was disbursed to help them cope with the immediate financial burdens they face in the aftermath of this disaster. This assistance is aimed at addressing the most pressing needs of the affected families, enabling them to purchase essential items, repair their homes, and access necessary medical care.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman PRCS AJK Ejaz Raza said that PRCS is committed to standing by the side of those affected by disasters, working tirelessly to alleviate their suffering and help them rebuild their lives. This response is part of PRCS’s on-going efforts to support communities in need and ensure their resilience in the face of adversity.
“Our organization is dedicated to serving the community and alleviating the suffering of those affected by disasters. We understand the urgency of the situation in Damishi Abhiyal, and we are committed to assisting the affected families as they work towards recovery.” He added.
Focal Person of affected community Qadeer Abbasi said that after the incident PRCS AJK immediately reached out the affected community and provided us with essential relief items including tents, Hygiene kits, kitchen sets and other relief items. “We are thankful to Red Crescent Society AJK, Chairman Ejaz Raza and National Headquarters’ Chairman Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari for their support and cash assistance”, he added.
While addressing the affected households here at Commissioner Office the Secretary PRCS AJK expressed her gratitude to National Headquarters and Chairman Sardar Shahid Laghari for their unwavering support to affected community.
The Additional Commissioner Muzaffarabad Shaukat Yusafzai & Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Raja Tahir Mumtaz applauded the efforts of PRCS AJK State Branch & National Headquarters Islamabad for timely support and dedicated efforts.
